Lava: A Serene Forest Village in the Eastern Himalayas

How to Reach

  • By Air: Bagdogra Airport (approx. 110 km) is the nearest airport. From there, taxis and shared cabs are available to reach Lava.
  • By Road: Lava is well connected via road from Siliguri, Kalimpong, and Darjeeling. Regular shared jeeps and private taxis operate on these routes.
  • By Train: The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), about 100 km away. You can take a taxi or shared cab to reach Lava.

 

Best Time to Visit

  • Summer (March–June): Ideal for sightseeing and treks; temperature ranges between 10°C to 20°C.
  • Monsoon (July–September): The region receives heavy rainfall; travel may be difficult but the forests come alive with greenery.
  • Winter (October–February): Experience the chilly mountain air and possible snowfall; temperatures dip as low as 2°C.
